Revenue share
Streaming pays through in full. Social and UGC platforms do not, and rather than bury that in a clause, here is the number and every platform it applies to — read from the same table the royalty importer uses, so this page cannot disagree with your statement.
A stream is a play of your release on a service you delivered to. There is nothing to administer after the delivery, so there is nothing to charge for beyond the plan. That is the whole arrangement and it does not change as a record grows.
That money is not a play of your release. It is a rights-management claim against somebody else's upload — a fan video, a reaction, a clip — which has to be registered, matched, monitored and sometimes disputed. The share pays for that work, and it is the reason the revenue exists at all rather than going to whoever posted the video.
Every monthly statement lists what each platform reported and what reached you, side by side, with the percentage in between. A share you cannot check is a share you are being asked to trust.
One-off fees
Both are shown before you confirm, and both are paid from your balance when it covers them — which means a fee can be silent, so the app always tells you what left and what is left.
A takedown is a delivery like any other — it goes out to every store, and each one has to acknowledge it. The fee is what stops takedowns being used as an undo button for a release that could simply be corrected. You also get 30 minutes to cancel one, free.
An artist needs one channel, and charging for the only one they will ever have is a toll on getting started. A label running a roster needs several, and each one is a separate application we prepare and submit. See VEVO distribution.
Billing FAQ
Not on the streaming services. Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, TIDAL and the rest pay through in full, on every plan and at every earning level. The social and UGC platforms pay through at 80% — the group is named in full above, and the rate is the same on every plan. Your statement shows what each platform reported and what reached you, side by side, so the arithmetic is never something you have to take on trust.
An upgrade takes effect immediately and is prorated for the days left in the period, because you are paying the difference now. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for — switching immediately would charge for a month and deliver three weeks of it. Either way you are shown the exact amount before you confirm, never "you will be charged something".
Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for and then drops to the free tier. Releases that are already live stay live — cancelling a plan is not a takedown, and we do not remove music because a subscription lapsed. The free tier's limits apply to what you release from then on.
Nothing is stripped immediately. A failed renewal keeps the plan through a grace window, because cards fail for boring reasons — an expiry date, a bank's fraud check — and an hour-old failure should not cost you priority review in the middle of a release.
Subscriptions bought inside the Android app are billed by Google Play, as their rules require. Everything else — subscriptions on the web, and the one-off fees above — is billed directly. The schedule and the invoice are ours either way: we calculate the amount and the gateway moves it, rather than the gateway deciding what you owe.
A fee is taken from your balance when the balance covers it, which by nature has no card page and no redirect — so the app tells you the amount that left and the amount remaining, and the charge appears as its own line on your statement. Money never leaves a balance here without a line saying why.
